Victor Keith Diack
1939 - 2024
The brainchild of performer and director James Luck, Victors was inspired by James’ late grandfather Victor, who once ran the Wreys Bush pub in southland - a man known for disappearing for days on end, only to be found back at the pub, surrounded by laughter, whisky, and familiar faces. In many ways, Victors is built in that same spirit: A refuge from the storm of life, a sanctuary for those drawn to the glow of sequins, the clink of martini glasses, and the comfort of finding their people in the dark of a theatre.
Hidden inside a transformed warehouse in Morningside, Victors blends the decadence of Parisian cabaret with the energy of downtown New York, creating a night out unlike anything else in New Zealand.
A home for Auckland’s growing cabaret community, Victors is both a love letter to old world hospitality and a modern celebration of performance, freedom, and chosen family. A place that remembers a simpler time, when pubs, clubs, and theaters were more than venues, they were living rooms for outsiders, artists, dreamers and night owls alike.
For what is night, if not a stage for the lost, and the lonely.
